Installing mods via the Steam Workshop. The easiest way to install mods is to subscribe to them via the Steam Workshop. Subscribing to a mod installs it automatically. To subscribe to a mod: Open the Steam application. Select Library. In the list of games on the left-hand side of the window, highlight XCOM 2.

I had one folder set for Steam addons and another set for local stuff that isn't available on the workshop. Now the Steam addons folder is empty, if I go to the launcher MOD options it still says Steam Workshop mods location: G:\ARMA 3 Addons - Steam. And yet when I browse to that folder there's nothing there. So like autigergrad I'm now going Steam is a service that allows you to purchase games, download mods, and play online with your friends. If you own either Skyrim or Skyrim: Special Edition on Steam, then the absolute easiest way to install mods is to go right through Steam's own workshop. Download Mods. While logged into your Steam account, navigate to the ARK Steam Workshop. Find a mod that you'd like to add to your server. In this example, I'll be downloading the Better Preserving Bin mod. Click the green Subscribe button. In your browser's address bar, copy the id variable. The Better Preserving Bin's ID is 824298758. Now you can repeat this step for as many mods as you'd like to have on your server. Just subscribe to them and make note of their respective IDs. Upload Mods What you are going to want to do is subscribe to the mod, then go into the steam mods folder and find the mod you subbed to. Copy and past that into the mod folder in the Starbound folder. The Starbound folder should already have a file in it that says "mods go here". U can most likely download the same mod from a modding site such as "skyrimnexus.com". Or u can put your Skyrim on another computer just for Steam access. I did this and just have the install on the computer I use for internet access. This way I can use the Steam functions (download creation kit, textures, mods) and whatever I want to keep, I can move to a USB drive and copy onto my gaming computer. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\289070 Each subscribed mod is assigned a mystery folder ID# when uploaded, and that is the sub-folder the mod will download into under the ~\289070 folder. Apparently this is some "great idea" dreamt up by Steam.

I currently have poor internet for downloading games or anything large (i.e. around 150 KB/s maximum download rate). When I subscribed to a very large Skyrim mod via the Workshop, the mod never got downloaded. After an hour of playing Skyrim without it, waiting for Skyrim to sync and the works, it never started downloading.
